Thinking about buying a pre-owned bunad online? Holding a pre-owned bunad can feel like becoming part of a journey – a journey that began with previous owners and can now be continued by someone new. A bunad is more than a garment. It carries craftsmanship, tradition and history. At the same time, it can be difficult to fully assess a bunad from photos alone. Important details related to quality, condition and possibilities for adjustments are not always visible. Submit photos and measurements of the bunad for an independent qualified assessment before purchasing a pre-owned bunad. You will receive a written assessment of the bunad’s condition, possibilities for adjustments, and whether it appears suitable for continued use. The price applies per bunad. For more complex cases, the next steps will be agreed after the initial consultation. Payment information will be provided upon booking. Please note: Norway has around 450 different bunads. Before photos are accepted, it will first be assessed whether the bunad is one we are qualified to evaluate. However the quality of fabrics, sewing, and possibilities for alterations can still be assessed. A qualified assessment can help ensure that the bunad’s story continues – with respect for the craftsmanship already woven into the garment.
